X-treme Cleaning [Mission Thread/SOLO] Empty X-treme Cleaning [Mission Thread/SOLO]

It had been quite an odd past few days for Kaito. Everything seemed to be going screwy one way or another, and all he wanted was just a way to distract himself from reality for a moment and just do something he wanted to do. What did he want to do? Help the guild. That answer came instinctively It was because of this answer that Kaito found himself glaring at the job board in the guild office. If the job board had hands I am sure it would have ripped off any job pegged on it and hand it over just to get Kaito to stop glaring at it. He was being very picky with what job he wanted to do today. He wanted nothing to do with anyone at the moment as people around would defeat the whole purpose of him trying to step away from everything and be alone. Granted he would have to meet with the job requester, but he was hoping it would not be another Miss Magnolia, where he would have to escort the person around town. He was looking for a job where he could just meet with the person do the job with no one around, and tell the person once he was done. There seemed to be a massive lack of these jobs though, which was not helping Kaito feel better about today.

Almost on the verge of just giving up and going back to his room for the day, Kaito's eyes fell upon a job that seemed to fit his demands. It was simple, and actually relatively close. Kaito snatched it off the board without so much as a second glance and then headed briskly out of the guild hall. People in the guild hall stayed away from him, with looks of worry on their face. They did not understand why he was so troubled today, but they all figured it best to just give him his space.

Kaito walked to the job requester's home. It was a large mansion, made of red brick. He walked by this house often, and now he would get to meet the person who lived inside. As long as he leaves me alone to do the job we will be fine, Kaito thought to himself. He walked on up to the door, a gust of wind sending a slight chill to his bone. Winter was swiftly approaching. Eager to get out of the cold, Kaito knocked upon the big oak door. The door open almost as soon as he touched it, and before him stood a elder man dressed in a business suit and with a clear lack of hair. He gazed at Kaito with a gaze that made Kaito feel as though his soul and thoughts where being read by this guy. Figuring he better quickly break the silence Kaito was about to introduce himself when the man said the following. “There is no need lad. I do not care about your name or your past, all I care is that you are here for the job and that you do it without error. Follow me.”

Wondering if the old man really did read his thoughts, Kaito followed him without another word, this guy seemed serious about the job getting done, and definitely seemed willing to let Kaito be undisturbed as he does it. Kaito was led downstairs, and once there Kaito was quite surprised by what he saw. The yard of the mansion was well kept as was upstairs, barely even a speck of dust. His first impression had been this would be a surprisingly short job, with just some minor dusting and mopping. This would definitely be a lot longer than that, after all the place seemed to be its own junkyard. It had the heaps of trash, broken junk, and most of all, it had the smell. Kaito held back a gag, though that only made his eyes water from the smell. The man nodded and said, “Well this is your job, clean this place up. I have been too busy with work to do it myself. Dispose of all this trash and broken junk, mop, dust, and get this place looking as good as upstairs. Cleaning supplies should be under the staircase. There is doors leading to the backyard with a barge tied up by the river back there. Take all the trash there. Once you are done and only then, come and find me. I shall leave you to it.” With that the old man left and Kaito gulped. He could see five rooms to clean. All together the rooms were probably the size of the guild hall. Why would people let a mess pile up this bad. Shrugging that thought aside for now Kaito cracked his knuckles and started to get to work.

The first matter of business was to clear out all the junk. Climbing around precarious piles of clutter, Kaito made his way to the door that Mr. Xavier, at least that is who the request was from as the man had never mentioned his name, had pointed to. He opened it up and let the brisk chilly air enter the basement area. He breathed the fresh air gratefully. It needed that smell gone, so he was just gonna have to deal with a little chill as he did so.

Load by load, Kaito gathered large junk in his arms and walked it outside, just simply trying to get it out of the house. Things that where tiny or broken into tiny pieces, Kaito left for the moment. He wanted to try and clear a path to the cleaning supplies to see if there was something he could place them in. He found everything from broken lamps to mysterious looking cans that had some kind of putrid smelling liquid inside of it. He cleared out the main room after a while and was able to finally open the closet. Inside he found a mop, broom, mop bucket, dustpan, feather duster, trash bags, and other miscellaneous supplies. For how messy the rest of downstairs was, Kaito was actually shocked that the closet was neat and orderly. He shrugged it off as one less thing he would actually have to clean.

Pulling out the trash bags, Kaito gathered up all the small and broken debris. Once the main room was cleared out of all the junk and debris, Kaito could tell all it needed now was a a good dust, sweep and mop, and it should be fine. Figuring it would be much better to just get all the junk out of the other rooms and doing all the floors at once Kaito headed off to the next room. Gathering up all the junk and bags of trash, old banana peels, rotten apple cores, etc, Kaito managed to collect up all the junk and debris from downstairs. It had taken him majority of the morning just for this task, and he still had to take all this junk to the barge out down by the river. The air downstairs seemed drastically better, so Kaito went ahead and spent the next 2 hours hauling stuff to the barge, eager to get back inside and close the doors and be out of the chill.

Finally back indoors, Kaito smiled knowing the easy part was all that was left. First thing he did was take the feather duster, and dusted every surface, chandelier, lamp shade, and nit-nak in all the five rooms. Dusting was simple, as was sweeping. He swept the floors, and pulled all the furniture out and swept behind them. He left all the furniture in the middle of the rooms however, as he still needed to mop before he put them back. After sweeping, the floor was still covered badly in grim and muck that looked fairly caked on. Kaito was afraid a simple mop job would not be adequate. So he filled up the mop bucket with hot soapy water. He then poured the water onto the floor, just enough to cover a small area at a time. He then put both his hands out in front of him, making a fist in each hand and touching them together and called out “Fire-Make deck brush”. A deck brush appeared in his hands, and Kaito smirked. He enjoyed how handy his magic could be even in the most mundane task. He set to work using his deck brush to scrub out all the grim and muck off the floor.

After deck brushing a section, he would mop it dry, examine it to make sure all the muck was actually gone, which sometimes it was not, and he would repeat his process until he was done. Once the section had passed his quality check he would move back the furniture to the section and move on to the next section. In this way the time passed and eventually, an hour or so later, the floors were finished. Kaito thoroughly exhausted from all the scrubbing and use of magic, placed the mop and bucket back in the closet and shut the door. He headed over to the stairs as he now expected to have to find Mr. Xavier. However to his surprise, As soon as he got to the stairs, the door opened and Mr. Xavier came down the stairs. “So you think you are done now eh? Let's take a look.” Kaito was at a loss for words, how did this guy know right when he was done. To tired to think about it too much, Kaito stood at the steps as Mr. Xavier walked every inch of downstairs. He ran his fingers across mantle tops and tables, to insure they were properly dusted. Which Kaito kept thinking to himself that he hoped he had not missed a spot, for all he wanted to do was go back to his room and sleep.

Mr. Xavier finished his rounds and came back to the stairs. “Not a half bad job, at least it is better than it was. Go home and get yourself some rest. I believe you earned it, along with this.” With the last part, he pulled out a coin purse of jewels and tossed it to Kaito as payment for the job. Still lost for words Kaito caught the jewels and stuffed them into his jacket pocket. Climbing the stairs behind Mr. Xavier, Kaito left the downstairs, and proceeded through the house back to the front door, and left. He was thoroughly tired, any young boy would be after such a strenuous cleaning job. Heck his dad's inn was never that hard to clean, but Kaito didn't see a point in complaining. He had done something productive today, and distracted himself pretty well. He made it back to his room and plopped down on his bed. He didn't bother even kicking off his shoes, he just laid there and went to sleep.
